gavclojak Posted November 2, 2013 Share Posted November 2, 2013 Princess layer has been having very loose poop in the morning, they are watery with solid bits rather than completely loose. One of the girls who I suspect may be her is laying softies in the roosting area. The softies are there when I go to let them out in the morning so she is laying either overnight or eargly in the morning. They are up to date with worming and she seems fine in every other way. jjiande Posted November 2, 2013 Share Posted November 2, 2013 This sounds a lot like Lottie a few months back, just after she started laying. They already had grit and good quality pellets, but I started putting a liquid calcium supplement in their water (from Flyte so Fancy) and in the afternoon I give them some mash mixed up with water, a few Keep Well pellets and a bit of cod liver oil. I give them every now and then now, although I have used them for a fortnight or so when one of them is under the weather. Redwing Posted November 3, 2013 Share Posted November 3, 2013 A drop of cod liver oil will help the calcium the hen is receiving to be absorbed If that fails then a little limestone flour in the food will help Neither of these will cause a problem for the other hens. I am bit watching her all day so it's hard to tell if she is pooing normally for the rest of the day. She has been having a few grapes so may stop those and see if that makes a difference too. I wasn't sure if the shorter days have thrown the laying cycle for them.
