Dolly
Nutridrops are often recommended on here as a pick me up, which you give via a pipette directly into her beak. She sounds quite poorly to me, I had a girl with similar droppings and it turned out she had an abdominal tumour and was put to sleep. I hope this isn't the case for you but if it was me,I wouldn't leave it too long before taking her back to the vets. Good luck and keep us updated. beccauk
Shes gone, I woukd like to thank everyone for their advice I wouldnt of got her there if it wasnt for that, is there a locked topic on worme, i know im not the only one to of been using vermx andnot being aware its only preventative, and people keeping chickens need to use a proper wormer as well, ive leart a harsh , upsetting lesson and a chicken that had such a great character as they all have there own. If she can stop others lossing theres I guess that would be something. Not only thst to be more observant I think she was showing the early signs I just didn't notice them, it probably didnt help being at work leaving them when its dark in the morning and then its dark when I was home at night , all I know is it wont happen again. beccauk
I just want to make sure im not going to get caught twice, on reading about flubenvet and ordering some hopefully it will come today , I read this on a website If you suspect worms then the chemical answer is to use a recognised, licensed, anthalmintic (wormer) like Flubenvet or Solubenol. These are the only wormers licensed for poultry through the Animal Veterinary Medicines Authority and you will need a prescription from a vet, or to 'sign' a POM-VPS declaration form on a website. Please be careful when buying online that the company you buy from actually have an SQP (Suitably Qualified Person) to dispense Flubenvet. Beware of any online company that does not ask you to complete a form or give the SQP information before purchase. when I ordered it online I dont remember filling anything in? Mrs_B
Oh, becca I'm so so sorry to be reading that your girl passed away I don't know 100% as I'm still learning but I suspect that maybe your girl succumbed to something else like an infection because the worms made her vulnerable? She sounded like she went downhill quickly and when you're not an expert in keeping chickens and everything is still new (it feels like that still for me) it's difficult to make decisions but as long as you gave her TLC, and also you asked questions here for help and went to your vet, you did everything you could. You're not alone regarding the Verm X, in fact my Hermes Chicken Manual says Verm X is a wormer (I'm sure the latest edition has been changed). Please don't beat yourself up, you didn't intentionally avoid worming your chickens. Your vet sounds a bit odd to me - Flubenvet is the only wormer for poultry, never heard a wormer for cattle being used for chickens (but I could be mistaken). Also asking for a poop sample is normal and in my opinion this should have been done if you wanted (so then you know what you are dealing with instead of guessing just with injections). Regards to ordering Flubenvet - some websites I think class the fact you're ordering as accepting their T&Cs, but I have always had someone ring me before delivery. The Chicken Vet didn't ring me when I ordered recently from them but I am a paid registered member with them and they have details through that. What website did you use? Sorry if you've said already. Huge hugs - again I am sorry about your girl. Keep up with the Flubenvet treatment for your other chickens xx

Mrs_B
I would check the sell by date on the box when you get it (I hope it's arrived!!) Flubenvet seems to have chenged their box design, so maybe check online to compare what you have. I'm sure it's fine Really hope your other chickens will be OK! x
