Ladylil 0 Posted March 29, 2014 My light Sussex, Beryl, can make a right racket in the morning and it seems to be when the others are laying in the coop. I'm guessing she doesn't like being left on her own so wondered if adding a small bathroom mirror to the run would help?? I've hung cabbages, put corn down in the aubiose but nothing pacifies her  Has anyone been in a similar situation?  Laura
Patricia W 313 Posted March 29, 2014 She's probably just announcing that the others are laying an egg!
PoachedPlease 0 Posted March 29, 2014 I doubt mirrors will help. It's just their annoying egg song. My girls seem to do it before AND after laying eggs, nice and early in the morning. Any ideas to stop this, much appreciated  Xx

Beantree 121 Posted March 30, 2014 Certainly sounds like she is panicking Ladylil. Ours make a real fuss if they want to lay and someone else is in their nest box; that's a possibility. Nothing you can do in that case. Try a mirror. We put one in the run just to see what happened. They went behind it to see where the other chicken was but quickly lost interest in it all. My worry would be if it broke for any reason.
Ladylil 0 Posted March 30, 2014 Thanks Beantree. I had thought that also but you can buy shatterproof mirrors, though not sure I'd want to spend too much especially if they lose interest in it!
