keyhole kate
Am I the only person who gets fed up asking for there own things back A friend of ED asked to borrow my rotorvator last august I have finally got fed up waiting for him to return it and asked for it back why do I feel guilty asking for my own things back it's crazy
patsylabrador
I thought you were referring to the US Troops' nickname for our troops. My problem is forgetting who I've lent stuff to.
soapdragon
I know that this sounds very mean but I have given up lending..............having lost so much because I have lost track of where it was or was too embarrassed to ask for it back I just don't do it any more. Sounds mean but avoids the hassles Now I just make recommendations!
Claireabella
Making recommendations sounds good to me . I had to ask a friend for our chainsaw back after she had asked if her OH could lend it. I felt really awkward too
sjp
I don't lend power tools to anyone any more friend or family I also don't borrow power tools from anyone if I need anything that's out of my price range then I hire it

Egluntyne
I try to avoid lending these days. I once lent a steam cleaner to a friend and she returned it broken. I've lent my Remoska to someone and I can't for the life of me remember who. It must be at least a year ago.

keyhole kate
I had to google a Remoska wow pricey and whoever borrowed can't fail to notice they still have it you are definitely too generous I'm glad I'm not alone I wouldn't dream of asking to borrow from others that's what so galling I hate feeling guilty as I genuinely will help anyone if I can but I fear I am going to have to adopt the no lending policy too as I feel bad when I have to ask for things back which is crazy

keyhole kate
Can you believe it The borrower can't return my rotorvator as he crashed his car and it won't fit in his current car so OH has to go and pick up our own item I can't repeat what I told my ED of her friends cheek
Guest
Borrowers are so annoying, I lend stuff to neighbours who always return things but refuse to lend my sister anything as she always loses things or denies ever having them.
Valkyrie
Hmmm the old saying "neither a borrower or lender be". It's too awkward. We lent our neighbours our shredder. I think we had used it a couple of times and it was eventually returned broken. It was out of the warranty date too. We also lent a different neighbour an electric fan heater when their water pipes burst and it was drying out the carpet and things for them. We are still waiting to get it back and that was about 8 years ago. Trouble is they are nice people and yes you feel awkward asking. So we decided no more lending things out as they are too costly to replace.
Chickabee
Well I thought The Borrowers were little people who live under your floorboards. Like the look of the Remoska, what a shame you didn't get it back. I bet that was a really handy gadget too
LolaLayla
Hmmm the old saying "neither a borrower or lender be" As I was reading down the thread I was thinking of this saying as it was one of my mum's. I must admit I feel a bit mean if someone is looking for something and I have it but don't say. I do lend to close friends and have at times borrowed too but am always terrified the item breaks while in my care.
