soapdragon
Have to say that, as non footie fans, its all getting a bit too much. Seems to be taking over everything People decorating their houses with flags/posters etc my reaction....get a grip; its only a game Will be glad when its over/we are out and we can all forget the hype ! Or am I being a humbug What are others feelings on the manic reactions? Don't get me wrong...I am as patriotic as the next person but the over reaction is totally OTT (IMHO!) Leicester_H
I like the actual football - its all the pre-match speculation and post match analysis that I hate. Same with many things, eg Wimboldon, Olympics, etc. etc (not just sporting things even). H
Cat tails
Very glad when it's over! Streets are completely covered in orange flags and yesterday I had running and screaming people on the streets. People lighting fireworks and everthing... I really wanted to go to bed early, but the fans just wouldn't shut up. And the chicken ladies weren't too happy with all the noise either. chickencam
We like a bit of footie here and we have just one flag up in the garden. We watched the opening match and will watch the game tonight, but we won't obsess over it. My DS gets quite stressed watching and I used to be like that but after many years of disappointment I tend to keep it low key. I first found my life of football during Italian 90 when we were staying in a little cottage in Devon and were watching all the marches in the evenings, got to the semi finals then but not again since. Ain't Nobody Here
Can't stand it . The constant, droning noise of the crowd really annoys me (my OH and YS are watching it but I'm often on my laptop in the same room). I also hate the constant discussion before, during and after each and every game. The game's over - move on . You'd think there was nothing important going on elsewhere in the world . Cat tails
The discussion! Horrible! Had to be at work today for a course. When I came in, my collegues where discussion the whole game of yesterday and they were soooo loud... I was about to turn around and go home again... The Dogmother
Another one who can't stand it, and neither does Rosie, so the TV is staying off
Alis girls
Try living with 3 Man U fans. They are so noisey and I have to shut all the doors when trying to sleep for an early shift. I have come down and read them the riot act and frankly told em to "zip it" . Also Corrie gets moved about too much and that makes me grumpy as I dont know where I am - so in the Loathe it camp. Lavenders_Blue
I'm completely indifferent to it I'm not at all interested and shan't be watching, but neither will I be going out of my way to avoid it. It's happening and plenty of folks are excited about it. It's far less energy just to let them get on with it than get all stressed out about it

HarrisonFamily
My whole family loathe it - and then I have just found out the final is on my birthday !!
soapdragon
Wow...thats really interesting that the majority of posts are either anti or indifferent It does seem to have taken over the whole country and I so wonder what else it is masking in terms of the actual news (happenings in Iraq etc ) Personally I think that the whole footie thing is daft with the obscene amounts of money that these blokes are paid each month - more than some of us earn in a year. Ditto what is charged for the club kit - all a bit of a rip off When I think of the wonderful and valuable work that those in the health service do day to day and the pittance that they get paid how can anyone justify the salaries of these footballers against A&E staff etc saving lives every day OOOOOOOh makes me soooo mad Rant over! Olly
Not a football fan at all, they are overpaid and badly behaved in my opinion (with a few notable exceptions) and I loathe the way football dominates the news and my colleagues' conversations BUT ... I make an exception for the World Cup, it's the only time I ever watch footie. No flags out here but I'll be going round to a friend's later for pizza and a drink and to watch the match with them. I somehow find it more exciting watching England play. I used to be married to an obsessive football fan, that may have something to do with it. And yes, I do understand the offside rule! Luvachicken
Can't stand football myself. As for flags - next door have put one up on MY fence AND they have bought the boy one of those stupid blowy things to squawk round the garden, like he needed an excuse to make even more noise than usual And why can't the football be shown on ITV2 or other channels so that us normal folk can still watch Emmerdale and Coronation Street ? Any football I've ever seen always shows the footballer falling over and writhing around in agony only to get up a few minutes later and be perfectly fine .......namby pambies if you ask me. soapdragon
Vastly overpaid nambie pambies at that, Luvachicken Were I paid that much then I'd be laughing all the way to the bank not rolling around only to spring up a few moments later...more drama than Corrie! chuckmum6
Loathe it, messes up my tv schedule too! Can't wait for it to be over, but I do like Tennis though.
Groovychook
Love it!!! World cup and Wimbledon in the same year is a real sporting treat for me
bellekatz
As a Season Ticket holder at a well known football club, me and OH LOVE the World Cup ( and most sport for that matter!!) There are no flags or mad people running around in my road, but we do enjoy quietly watching in our own home (though we were a bit noisy last night when Holland beat Spain!! ) Guess it was because I grew up with a sport loving Dad and as I was by far the youngest, i was the one who sat and watched with him in his older years. I'll watch anything but Rugby League
bluekarin
Part time footie fans here Only watch the England games, and get rather excited when doing so I do not like the amount it is discussed before and after each game though, and the and how much unnecessary drama there is on the pitch, a tedious waste of time. I also do not like how much the players are paid. Rather disgusting. Give me rugby any day. They are real men I am rather partial to Wimbledon though and have this year been watching a bit of the Queens matches.

Angie
Can't stand Football in any shape or form. I have bought a few new movies and am stocked up with a list of things to watch on catch up . These will be the longest 4 weeks, but on a brighter note ....Wimbledon is here soon

Bramble
Well, I'm not interested in football BUT the upside of the World Cup for me is that I have friends who've gone to Brazil for the group stages - so I get to look after their adorable pet rats whilst they're away Trouble is, it's making me want to have some of my own ... patsylabrador
Hate it even more after last night. DD was up at four, OH was up at five. Did they get a good night's sleep? Shouting, screaming, horns and hooters followed by loud thumpy music party. England lost chaps. Shouldn't you go home quietly now. The upside is quiet roads this morning. JellyBean2605
Me and the OH aren't bothered for it, in previous years we've watched England's matches and enjoyed them but we're not staying up to watch them this year, and we rarely watch telly anyway so aren't fussed about the disruption it causes. My mums not happy though I agree about how much they get paid though - an obscene amount! Maybe one day all the clubs will go bust.
