Firstly, I want to say Hello to you all - my first post.

A few months ago my hubby decided he wanted some chickens and most of all an eglu!

After a bit of bartering over which bit of the garden I would give up he got to work clearing it..... in the meantime I started reading this forum...and then totally changed my mind over where they should go!!

They will now have the converted greenhouse + a run that has been built onto the side of it (just finished today) AND instead of an eglu we are having a cube delivered next Monday with 4 chooks! We are also collecting three more on the same day...

So, pat on the back you guys - you are one of omlets biggest selling tools! I also think you lot are stark raving bonkers (in a nice way honest) there have been nights when I have sat here crying with laughter at some of your threads!!

All I have left to do is find some Auboise or Hemcore near me and we're ready - if not a bit nervous, we have 2 springer spaniels who may not be too impressed about the new arrivals to the garden!!

Cheers for now,

Helen

Hiya Helen, welcome to the best forum around, this really is the best place to be, we do have a laugh at some of the posts on here, and we are also here for serious matters too, eg. for someone to talk to , chook problems, we seem to cover everything here, and if someone doesnt know the answer then someone will be along who does, and they are all so very friendly. and you will find nothing is too much trouble.

So good luck with the chickens, and you will have to post some piccys on here so we can see them when they arrive, xx

:lol::lol::lol:

Ladylucan you are quite right - if I hadn't read this forum the run hubby was planning on building would have been too low to keep the chooks in.

We couldn't have altered it because it was in front of the conservatory windows - which I then wouldn't have been able to open because of the flies!!

So many Thanks for already saving us a fortune - there is bound to be a panic post from me next Monday!!

Hello and welcome :D

We too are eagerly awaiting delivery of our cube - scheduled for Friday and the forum has helped us immensely already.

We also have two nutty Springer Spaniels and I am rather concerned about the imminent family bonding required, there is a great sticky about introducing dogs and hens and when you scroll down it there is actually a specific section for spaniels!

Keep in touch anyway; I would be really interested to hear how you get on with your dogs
