Alis girls
Just started a risotto as 2 of my family hate curry. Made a stock for soup which was lovely as so cold outside. Thats it till next year. What do you do with your leftover turkey?
mullethunter
Turkey and ham pie for the last 2 years. Just leeks and mushrooms sautéed then add flour and chicken stock to make sauce, mix in Turkey and ham and top with mash. Also do Turkey soup. No time this year so just made the stock yesterday and it's now in the freezer. OH also hates curry
kinsk
Turkey butties on Boxing day. Can't beat some oatmeal bread, mayonnaise and iceberg lettuce for a bit of a fresher taste, plus various other butties along the way. Carcass stripped down and stock made. Last night was turkey, ham and leek pie made with some of the stock and some creme fraiche for the sauce. Turkey soup for lunch after a walk, still some stock left which has gone in the freezer. Scraggly bits of meat that were left have been minced and made into biscuits for the dogs. I do love getting my moneys worth!
Purplemaniacs
Opposite in our house We love turkey curry, I will make that tonight, stock is already made and in the freezer. That will be the last of the turkey meat. My curry is far from a traditional recipe, it was a recipe I found as a teenager and used to cook for my mum and dad who liked good traditional cooking, meat and 2 veg Curry was very exotic in those days DS loves the curry and is very sad that he doesn't live at home and misses out Stilton soup tomorrow with some of the turnkey stock and some of the Stilton. Cat tails
My mom and I both had a leg as a post Christmas dinner and my mom usually makes a ragout from any leftovers, but most of the turkey was eaten at Christmas, so she just had the last bits as dinner. At a 4 kg turkey it was a good dinner for 5 people at Christmas. Making a stock of the bones is a good idea by the way! Never thought of that! mullethunter
Sarnies! Of course! How could I forget them! Have to have sausagemeat stuffing and preferably a bit of the meat jelly from the carving dish in
kinsk
Not a stuffing fan. A few years ago I was feeling quite poorly and so made myself a turkey, brie and cranberry toastie but fried up in eggy bread, certainly hit the spot!
Blackrocksrock
Last of ours was made into turkey pie yesterday and half frozen for another day. Half the carcass was pressure cooked for soup on Friday and half frozen for another days pressure cook for stock for more soup = It has a wonderful flavour as stock for soup. A 4.5kg bird here and as we were 3 only it was just right for us.
chickencam
We made a turkey biryani the day after Boxing Day and then took Turkey sarnies to eat in the car when we went to visit relatives and DS ate the last s"Ooops, word censored!"py bits for breakfast along with a few left over mixed olives before we set off.
