auntielizzie
Hey everyone, I haven't had any eggs since mid October either My two remaining girls started moulting then and haven't laid since. However, I am hopeful Bessie might lay soon as her comb is starting to get redder and bigger again. Might just be wishful thinking though as she's getting on a bit now (I think she must be about 4). Anyway, she's a beautiful girl and one of my originals, so will always be very special. I very reluctantly had to buy supermarket eggs at Christmas for baking That really hurt I can tell you They are so so pale aren't they Roll on spring coz I've promised myself 3 or 4 new chickens I can't wait but also I can't decide what to get Recommendations welcomed - might even get some posh girls
Chickabee
I love all of mine, but my Welsummer is just gorgeous. My white star lays beautiful big white eggs and my Bluebelle has just started laying again. Lovely big eggs. I don't think you can beat a black rock or a RIR for consistent laying though. Having said that I had a Daisybelle who would not stop laying even during 2 winters. Never went broody. Gave her away to a lovely retirement home with my young cockerel when she stopped laying. Do let us know what you decide
kinsk
I very reluctantly had to buy supermarket eggs at Christmas for baking That really hurt I can tell you They are so so pale aren't they Snap, I had a huge shock when I cracked the first one I'd forgotten how pale they are. I love my Welsummers but have to say that I do prefer the eggs from my legbars and not just because they are blue although the eggs are slightly smaller there always seem to be more yolk. Chickabee
I just had one of my bluebelle eggs. Had to eat it fresh from the next box as I cracked it getting it out it was gorgeous and had a huge proud yellow yolk. Legbar hasn't laid yet, but looking forward to it
