mullethunter
Our landlady is selling our house and so decided the trees around the place needed the services of a tree surgeon. That meant the girls had to move to the patio. I thought their run would fit ok, but it turned out that 3.9m is a lot longer than I thought! So I decided that (as I planned to get one in the future anyway) I'd get them a 3m by 2m lo-rise run that would just fit on the patio with the Go inside. The run didn't arrive until 4 o'clock on Friday...and had a load of bits missing But with help from OH I managed to get a 2m x 2m run built by about 6 o'clock. Just as the girls went to bed. I rudely got the girls out of bed, shoved them in a cat box and dumped them in the new run. Then (in the dark) disconnected the Eglu from its run and lifted up the new run to put it inside. By this time the Pekins had run out of patience and gone to bed in the cat box , the Wyandottes immediately went to bed in the Eglu. When we looked out first thing this morning all four were scratching about in the leaf litter I put in as a temporary floor. When we came down for breakfast this was the view out of the window Then the tree surgeons turned up! Poor girls were not happy about strange men with chainsaws in their garden and the Pekins hid in the Eglu. We went out fishing for the day and when we got home calm was restored but Penny was laying her egg in the dust bath We hurriedly put the Omlet fence back up, returned the girls to their garden, then reattached the Eglu. I wonder if the girls are in bed thinking 'Did we dream it?'
Luvachicken
Awww, it does sound like an unusual day for them. I hope the tree surgeons didn't take too long. I love how they are all sat on the perch together
mullethunter
Me too - I love it when they're all together. When I saw them there I thought 'I love my chickens' The tree surgeons were here about 3 hours overall but less than an hour in the garden. They climbed up really small bendy Sycamores - looked quite comical!
Valkyrie
I reckon they are plotting to get indoors with you - so near and yet so far - but give them a chance . . .
Orangediva
They look like such lovely characters! Hope they enjoy the WIR. I had the tree surgeons in last week - one terrified me when he was 25 ft up balancing on branches and he started the chainsaw!
