percy049
Didn't see the sun at all, and it only got a bit darker so no change with regards to the birds

PixieDust
Still cloudy but much lighter and warmer. Yes Beantree, evening preening occured here too. Also we have suffered our first fight. We out around 10.45am to find white feathers everywhere. I thought maybe Lily had started a moult but after a cuddle with Pixie, I found her comb had been pecked. First time I have had to use my Gentian Violet spray.
soapdragon
Just got a bit dark here...was cloudy and overcast anyway. Of course, two hours later; brilliant sunshine and clear sky

Alis girls
What eclipse? Nothing here in London - just a dull day till later. I remember the 1999 one. Feel cheated - wanted to see hen put themselves to bed and up again
Valkyrie
Ditto to Cinnamon! Although the sudden bright grey cloud was worth commenting on by number one son. We both said how weird was that! Like a light switch being flipped on. Nothing happened here with the birds - I think they just thought rain was imminent and filled their faces and hid under their clubhouse tree. The wild birds were business as usual - including demanding raisins at the front door. Saw lots of birds reasonably active.
chickencam
We had hazy sunshine, got a view through our pin hole box and we took the sink drainer and used that instead of a colander for multiple view on paper Took some photos and got a little crescent reflection on them that was inverted
Charlottechicken
We had a cracking view here in North Worcestershire, telescope set up in the garden, and bright sunshine with a little cloud. Here's a couple of photos, using the telescope to project the image onto paper; This is as far as the moon went!
The Dogmother
That 2nd one's great Claire, looks like you captured a solar flare on it too Hazy here, but still managed to catch it; some folks at work had welder's glass to look through, and we all went outside. Ain't Nobody Here
Those are great photos . So cloudy here that it was all a bit of a letdown . This is all I got (just on my phone so I couldn't even see what I was photographing ). I thought the clouds looked nicely menacing though! Purplemaniacs
Lovely photo - slightly spooky - give her a scythe and she could be the grim reaper. I agree Alis girls it is a bit spooky but a wonderful picture. At school we all went outside with our special glasses, the children I work with 5-7 year olds loved it some were scared to start with and thought they couldn't look anywhere without their glasses on as the sun would get them It must have inspired them as they did some lovely pieces of writing afterwards. The Dogmother
That's lovely to hear Chrissie; I hope the memory will stay with them. I love the medieval feel to the photo; lurchers/long dogs are an ancient type of hunting dog; you see them in many old paintings and tapestries, so they lend themselves well to this type of image. Ain't Nobody Here
the children I work with 5-7 year olds loved it some were scared to start with and thought they A friend who works at our local primary said the kids weren't allowed outside, which seems a shame. One of her colleagues was complaining later that her eyes hurt and she was seeing orange. Unbelievably, she seems to have missed the ubiquitous safety warnings and looked directly at the sun .
