daverave
Hi, I've been the proud owner of a couple of chickens for several weeks. I've covered my run with hard wood chippings so that it don't get too muddy. However, I was wondering how I should clean the run? Do I need to replace the chippings every month or so? Grandmashazzie
Hi Dave I have clippings and I try to pooh pick the worst off every day.If it is dry you can power wash them. Then about every 4 months clear them out and replace.I think there is also powder that can be sprinkled on.I sometimes when they are free ranging put some diluted Jeyes fluid down. daverave
Great. Is the powder Nettex Ground Sanitiser? Does the sun smell at all, and do you get flies?
The Dogmother
Ideally you should rake Ground Sanitising Powder through the litter each week, then sprinkle it on the ground when you've cleaned out the run. You shouldn't get any smell at all, but you might want to consider using Aubiose in the run instead.
Egluntyne
I would hose them over well every month or so and then use the ground sanitising powder.
