mullethunter
Having moved, for the last month my four banties have had the run of our whole garden when we're home (they have a 3 by 2 lo rise WIR attached to their 2m Go run when we're out). However after too many times coming in from hanging out the washing with poo on his shoes, OH said they had to be fenced in to just part of the garden (fair enough). Unfortunately we're now at odds over how much of the garden they should have. So my question (which may be impossible to answer but I'd welcome your experiences) is, what's the smallest area of grass (they'll have approx 15 square meters of shrubby borders in addition) they could have to FR in outside work hours and not destroy? Cat tails
About three to four acres? They are such destructive little madams... I think when you give them quite some time during the day and only limited access they will eventually destroy anything. So unless you limit their time spent on the grass quite a lot, you will end up with bare earth quite soon.
sparkysmum
Would you be able to post pics of your set up / garden? If their housing was inside the 15m border then I think they would only " need" a little bit of grassy area . Could you fence off some grass along with the shrubby border that you refer to? My ladies have a similar arrangement. They have a shrubby area which the cube is located in then adjacent to this they have some fenced off lawn. (Omlet fencing) I change this fenced off area every week so that the grass remains intact. I hope this makes sense! Ax
