Christmas baking - Stollen

So, the mini Christmas cakes are made and being fed with brandy :drool: , the Christmas puddings were made on Sunday and one is in the pressure cooker, the other will follow. And so yesterday I was a bit bored and thought I'd like to try something new, and I recalled this recipe.


I've never made stollen before, and I'm not very experienced with yeast cookery - it is a very wet dough as the recipe says, and the final result was a bit of a splodge rather than a loaf or a cake. However it is absolutely delicious, somewhat to my surprise! Ostensibly it was made to give to people coming to my house for a committee meeting last night but if I'm honest, about half of it has found its way into my mouth, purely for testing purposes you understand.
