Heard this today:

" I haven't bothered to keep mine in the run, I am always out in the garden and can keep an eye on them to make sure they are safe":roll::evil:

Does she honestly think that the virus is like a big, 6ft fungus the bogeyman, which she can see?

DEFRA has put a temporary ban on poultry shows and auctions 2 days after a major poultry show why now and not last week ? there's only 2 shows between now and the possible end of the current order the one is on the day. auctions I can understand but I suspect the last ones of the year have been held but again why not last week?

Personally, I was surprised that they didn't stop movements when the prevention zone went up.It does help to prevent the spread when the disease is already around, but who's to know that it isn't?

I expected the Fed to be cancelled once we'd had the news about the infected farm

Me too. All very odd, whilst wildfowl are the main spreaders of the virus, transporting birds all over the country can't be a good idea  It's going to spread anyhow, but the least we can do is help to prevent it by taking all necessary measures.

I assume that DEFRA had inspectors or reps at the show and either did like something or didn't realise/understand the size of the show and the catchment area of the entrants or the mechanics of a poultry/bird show
