Eggshell
I'll be keeping the chickens in their 4m x 4m covered run for the next 30 days and am wondering how to improve ventilation, given all the tarpaulin draped over them. Any suggestions?
sjp
the cover only needs to be over the roof mesh or to form a 'solid' barrier roof not all the way to the floor basically to stop wild birds perching on the roof and pooing into the run so as long as at least half of the height of the side wall are not covered on at least 2 sides you should get enough cross ventilation to allow the floor to dry and stay 'sweet' and stop the birds from over heating when the sun is out plus keep any condensation on the tarp to a minimum
The Dogmother
Use a clear tarp, and prop it slightly under one side to allow the water and any condensation inside to run off.
Eggshell
Thanks!
Plum
I hang the clear tarpaulin a few inches down to allow an airflow across the run and prevent condensation, which has worked extremely well over the years but the plastic sheet roofing does overhang by a couple of inches. Glad I won the argument with the old man
