soapdragon
A plea for advice! I am sorely tempted by a beautiful Weird Fish velvet coat on E Bay which says that its washable. Being 100% cotton I guess it should be but the pitfalls of washing velvet set me wondering....I couldn't face ironing it! Has anyone got a velvet coat? Do you wash it? Does it hang to dry and not crease? Oh, the dilemma! It finishes at 3.00pm tomorrow and is exactly 'my' shade of cornflower blue........ Blackrocksrock
Bought real cotton velvet curtains many years ago, I decided to wash them, they washed beautifully. Over the years were turned into door curtains and dyed in my machine washed and tumbled dried, threw them out 3 months ago after 35 years of wear if that helps. dancing cloud
Sorry I came to this too late I have a Boden velvet coat that washes beautifully. Out of the machine straight on to a hanger and hung outside. Mine hasn't creased but you could always iron it on the wrong side if needed. Did you risk it? soapdragon
Thanks for that...no, DancingCloud...it went for £23.00 plus £5.65 p and p and I had set myself a limit of £20 so, though I was tempted, I restrained myself. However, they do come up fairly regularly on E Bay so I will keep an eye out now I know about the Boden coat
dancing cloud
The Boden coat was an ebay bargain, as it's black, gold and red velvet in a paisley pattern, and they were selling it in summer . It doesn't look much on the hanger, but the catalogue showed it on a model of similar colouring to me (though 1/2 the width and twice the height) and it looked great on a person. I wore it a lot the first winter and then decided to take the risk of washing as it had cost so little. All good
