Keeping Chickens 1

Recommended Posts

At the age of 70 I was given permission to have chickens by my family not that I needed there permission.

I checked my deeds and contacted the council about the bylaws and all was ok.

I started building the coop/hut (sorry Egiu Cube) in January but also had to make a fence

on top of the existing wall to stop them escaping. (you can see I screwed my glove to the post).

More to come, Peter

Looking sharp Peter! I had a chuckle over your glove though! Especially since my dad did something rather similar not long ago with a beam and a ladder!

Welcome! I got my first chickens 10 years ago as a 60th birthday present.  They open up,a whole new world!

That looks like a nice spot for chickens Peter. We have ours on lawn in front of the house; saves cutting it as well. One thing worth mentioning. Before you put chickens on grass it needs to be cut very short, the reason being because sometimes they gorge on it (if they haven't been reared on grass) and if it is long it will impact their crop.

Thanks for the replies and the advice. I will be adding to my chicken experience.

🤣 I love that you screwed your glove to the post - that’s the sort of thing I would do. I thought you said you were a carpenter 🤣
