Hi - I wondered if anyone knows why our eggs have such watery whites. Our chickens have plenty of grit - we have never encountered this problem before and have been keeping chickens for a long time. Thanks. Sharon

Is it multiple chickens? I have one who always does rubbish whites.

Actually, now you've said that, I used to have one a long time ago that also laid rubbish whites.

Hi So sometimes a watery egg yolk can be down to genetics. Simply, it is very annoying but sometimes it is just due to genes the hen has inherited. Some genes mean the yolk is bigger or the egg white is more watery. This could be the situation in your case although what everyone else has mentioned seems to be possible reasons also. Age, storage of eggs etc.
