Kree 0 Posted April 1 Good evening, I know there have been different discussions about this but I just wanted to check my own situation. I got 3 chickens last week and within a couple of days one had a bad eye, bubbling and looking sore. I read about different chicken eye conditions on different threads. The vet gave me kesium tablets and a pain killer but it doesn't seem to be doing a great deal. Another chicken now appears To have the same issue. I have pictures but not sure how to put them on here.
Cat tails 936 Posted April 6 Sounds like mycoplasma. Not sure what kesium tablets are and do, but mycoplasma is not something you can cure yourself and I would advice you to go back to your vet for another treatment.
mullethunter 602 Posted April 6 I would also go back to whoever you got them from and complain / tell them what’s happened. Unless you’ve had chickens before on the same land, it sounds like the newbies came to you already with the disease even if they weren’t showing it. Beantree 149 Posted April 7 It sounds like mycoplasma to me as well. It could be a stress flare-up from a mild immunisation variant, or they may be carrying the virus, in which case the breeders flock should be isolated and nothing sold. You need to find out which.
