pbfhpunk
Hi We're possibly moving from Leamington Spa area to Rutland, we've got a cube and 7 chickens. Anyone had an experience of moving them or any advice??!! Was thinnking of dimantling the cube from the run and wheels and hoping that they'll go into the cube to sleep and then maybe take the cube in the back of a small van, although this would mean having to wait until it was dark to move them and as it'll be a motnh or 2 before we go the evening will be a lot lighter!! Help!! H
Goosey Lucy
Hi, I moved from Coventry to the Isle of Man which was took about 8 hours in all including a 2.5hr ferry crossing. We only have a and 3 but the hens came in the car with me in a box lined with paper and hemcore. They spent the trip in the dark so that they would be calm, I checked them a couple of times (before and after the ferry crossing) and the seemed fine, just gentle clucking for most of the trip. Two laid eggs while they were in the box and settled in to their new home very quickly. I made sure there were plentry of air slits in the box and also that they were quite snuggly as I was told that transporting them in more roomier conditions could be bad for them if we were to break suddenly for instance. I don't have a cube yet but think they might have too much room to move, you might be better off transporting them in 2 or 3 boxes to keep them secure. Good luck with the move
