Beantree
When they need to grind their food, so if they are being fed scattered fine chick grain, otherwise when they go onto the co*****r pellets. We sieve out the little bits from regular grit and give it to them during the transition from chick crumb to rearers pellets, so around 4-5 weeks. Don't give them a pot of it, just a fine scattering in the food. Chicks can get 'addicted' to grit and just gorge on it, particularly if there are a lot of them trying to eat from the same feeder. The pecking order is established at a week, so some may be bullied off the feeder that early.
