Annabell
My hen Billie had scaly leg mite and I have been treating it weekly for a while to catch any mite eggs. Her scales are shedding now, only a few more remain. She now is picking at her own feet and making them bleed it's the area where there are no scales. There must be some irritation their for her to this but she is free of scaly leg mite though I have treated her again just to make sure and I am checking her feet daily. If anyone can offer any advice or a solution to stop the feet picking, I would be most grateful. She is an elderly gentle girl and luckily, none of the other hens are attracted to peck at her feet. Beantree
Perhaps there is some itch during the healing process? Could you try E45 cream or something else that you would use on your own sensitive skin areas?
Annabell
Yes, there is some irritation, she is making a mess of her foot in one particular area now. I have some E45 so will do that straight away. Thank you so much Beantree for your response.
