Hi,

I'm desperate to get myself a couple of ducks (Campbells, probably), I have a large secure garden with a big pond containing a number of large Koi Carp.

The pond itself has a very powerful filtration system so I don't envisage a problem with water quality, but I don't want to expose either the ducks or the fish to any potential risks.

Can anyone give me any advice on keeping ducks with a koi pond and whether it's actually recommeded at all. :?:

Thanks in advance

Tony

Welcome to the forum :D.

Hmmmmm not sure :?.

I'm not sure if the ducks would attack and eat the fish...

Do you have any idea how big the pond is? If it is reallly big, then I don't see why not.

You could always just buy some ducks and make a seperate pond for them? Or you could use a childrens plastic paddling pool?

It's about 8-9m sq and about 1.5m deep with an artificial stream running into it, which makes up part of the filtration/oxyenating process.

The fish tend to hang around just under the surface, so that would be a problem if the ducks are likely to attack them (although a few of them are in excess of 50cm long now and can probably look after themselves).

I think I may have trouble keeping the ducks out of the pond unless I was to pen them in, which i'd prefer not to do :(
