Mr Fox broke in to our Eglu Go through the back hatch

Recommended Posts

Last night we lost 7 chickens in our Omlet Go coop with it’s Omlet attached run. The fox did not dig under the skirting, it broke the coop door at the back! I am baffled and in shock and would like to know how on Earth was that possible?!

Hi. I'm so sorry about your chickens. I'm very new to chicken keeping but definitely feel the back door of the cube is a design fault. It's easily pulled out from the bottom. I wrap a very tight bungee cord around the level of the litter tray and fasten with carbiner clips as I feel nervous about that back opening

No it wasn’t a racoon, we are in UK, and it wasn’t a fox either! Turns out it was actually a mink or a polecat! We found evidence… We now have set (humane) traps to catch the culprit and send it somewhere else where they can’t harm any pet chickens.
I have been in touch with Omlet and although the lady I spoke to was very nice , the only thing they did for me was to send a replacement back door for the coop!?  And a promise that she will pass the case to the management and design team. Turns out Omlet coops are not 100% predator proof
