chili pepper
Sams feet have suddenly turned a very dark orange/yellow colour. She is otherwise fine in herself, does anyone know what this could be???
Cazjohn
One of my ex-batts has also got yellow feet and legs!
chili pepper
The thing is I have had her for just over a year now and they have only turned orange in the last 2/3 days, thats what is puzzling me.
Cazjohn
Thats strange Blackbeard (named by god-daughter) had them when we got her - I've always felt that shes a lot older than the others - shes top chicken but has never laid.
chanters
Is she laying well? From what I've read in the past sometimes, depending on certain breeds, the hens legs can vary in colour depending on what foods they eat. A diet with a lot of maize can increase the yellow/orange pigments plus if they're not laying very well, the legs can appear more yellow/orange. Also I think a diet with access to grass is supposed to produce more of a paler tinge to the legs.
chili pepper
She doesn't really lay at all now. She had some sweetcorn about a week ago but shes had sweetcorn in the past and I've never noticed it before. She has access to grass all day. I wonder if shes just slowing down and showing signs of aging now, shes an ex - batt and Ive had her for just over a year, so she would be about 2 and a half I suspect.
