Non alcoholic fruit punch

Recommended Posts

Hi Julie,

I used to serve this as an alternative to (cheap but nice) champagne on opening nights in a university theatre when I lived in California. It' looked great because of the block of lime sherbet (sorbet) which made it foamy.

Here are the ingredients along with possible substitutes in brackets:

1 large can of pineapple juice

1 large bottle of ginger ale

1 tube of frozen limeade (barely sweetened juice of four or five limes but probably not lime cordial)

2 tubs (pints or quarts) of lime (or lemon) sorbet (the orginal recipe used a half gallon but I don't think you can get that here)

Chill the juice and ginger ale. Just before serving, put sorbet in punch bowl and pour other ingredients over it. Multiply ingredients if you think you'll need to.

Bottoms up!

Hi Sue!!!

Yes it was a bit late but never mind :? I found a nice recipe using ginger beer and pineapple juice that tasted really good

I have copied your recipe down for use later as it sounds delicious  The party went well especially as my mother-in-law insisted she could row our small boat and fell in the river

we are still laughing :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Enjoy this wonderful weather

Now there's a family story that will run and run! (Reminds me of the Sunday drive many years ago when my grandmother got her dentures stuck together when eating salt water taffy!) Hope you had the camcorder operating!

No unfortunately we did not film it but took some shots of her waist deep in water

My mother-in-law is one of those people who "can do anything" an is rather "up herself" to put it kindly  so it was doubly hilarious :lol::lol:

BTW what are salt water taffies :?:

Nothing like good "innocent" fun, eh? Salt water taffies are...did you ever see the French c 1940s (?) b/w Jaques Tati film about a summer holiday "sur la plage" (at the beach, if I've got it right)? At one point he watches a machine "pulling" (stretching) taffy.

It was old-fashioned fun in the States to pull taffy (Judy Garland and her sisters would have done it in St Louis even if it's not in the film Meet Me in St Louis). There is no English/British equivalent that I can think of. It's just a very chewy sweet that comes in many flavours and colours and is wrapped in a twist of waxed paper. Sold at the seaside but also inland (and there's a LOT of inland in the States).

I can imagine your MIL as a wet hen!

Thanks for that Sue :)

Sound a little bit like our seaside rock, you can certainly get your teeth/dentures stuck in that :lol::lol:

It is SO hot here today,(but lovely!) and my 3 girls are all huddling under the bushes in the shade watching me wash the poo from the patio! We should be starting to fence off their own area this weekend then I can begin to repair the garden  also I look forward to not having great dollops of poo on the back doormat

Have a great day
