Ooh, interesting - I only know purple loosestrife, so I googled this and see it's a lovely yellow one!

 

Er - back to your question - I wouldn't bother pruning. Chickens seem to know what they can and can't eat, and even when mine have eaten things they shouldn't (like rhubarb leaves :evil: ) it doesn't seem to have done them any harm. I can't see why loosestrife should be a problem, it's not described as being poisonous. If you're lucky the chooks will prune it for you!
