chickenlickin
Hi, when my rabbit (mini Lionhead female) is in the hutch and I need to approach her to stroke or pick her up, she grunts at me and I am not sure why this is. She isn't nasty, doesn't bite, and can be picked up fine, so am unsure what the grunting is all about and what it means. It sounds vicious but maybe it is her way of saying hello. Does anyone know rabbit language?
SnowWhite
Rabbits can grunt for a number of reasons, sometimes it is just to tell you that they don't want to be touched, other times they will greet you with a grunt - The best way to tell what you rabbit is trying to tell you is to look at other body language signs. Pouncing forward is agressive - bad bunny! Grinding teeth is a sign that your bunny is scared (thumping will also indicate fear) or in pain. A bunny that sticks his nose towards you is demanding fuss and you're definitely friends. I have a Lionhead cross that is a bit of a grunter but a really friendly girl. From what you've said you've nothing to worry about. Hope this helps. Ellen for Bernard &
