I thought hens went still at night?

Recommended Posts

My ex bats do, I don't know how this girl was brought up (conditions etc) but I have for some time thought she was getting up in the night. And just now I caught her, up & about in the dark!

She sometimes roosts & I she has had runny poohs on occasions & her little friend has been soaked in the morning, moistly on the odd occasions she has a softee on the way.She was drinkig a lot before I got her to go to bed.. (she & her friend sleeping in the downstairs bathroom, but it is totally dark. no light from outside Or under the door, but i checked (as 1 does) and first she was snuggled up, later just standing, having changed the roosting bar in their bedroom I quite want to see if it has worked, ie she has to face away from her friend therefore not covering her in ANY type of pooh especially wet, also as she was drinking lots not a softee splattered over her friend :!: So I left the door open a crack so she can see her way back to bed & she has had some grit & yet another drink happily with lifeguard in it. and gone back to snuggling :? . She does both no particular reason I can make out.

When she came 1st and was wellenough to share a bedroom, I put her friend in after dark & she went for me not just a little peck, she really meant it, & I thought this was due to her traumatic bullying she got at her interim home.

Does anyone else have a noctornal chook?

It's usually dark when i get home so when I go out to shut the eglu door, one of my girls comes out to see me, and has a few mouthfuls of pellets. I think it's my fault though as I quite often fill up the glug the night before to save me precious time in the morning so this probably wakes her up, and then she can't resist a snack. This is as nocturnal as mine get :)
