'The Works' in Leicester city centre (it's a chain that sells books, CDs, art supplies, plus other goodies) is selling vegetable seeds (and flower) for 3 pkts for a pound. Not sure if this is happening anywhere else in the country, but if you're passing through Leicester in the next couple of days, check it out. The seeds are well within date and there is a pretty good range to be had.

I've found Wilkinsons and also Lidl supermarkets quite good for low cost veg seeds. Wilkinsons also have onion sets and lots of other garden goodies.
