Guest
with all these cheap/free seeds, fruit bushes and trees about, I'm tempted to be altruistic and do a bit of 'guerilla gardening' and plant a fruit tree in a public park or a green space near me I'm definitely sowing some wild flower seeds that I got free recently on the grassy bank at the end of our close, to brighten it up and provide food for the birds and bees etc There are some council owned green spaces that would be perfect to pop in a cheap fruit tree near me. If you like the idea why not post a piccie of you doing your bit, you don't have to say where it is but it would be nice to know roughly where, i.e. 'the local park' and what you planted Anyone else up for this? SAB
My kids and I were about to start doing this along the side of our lane, our elderly neighbours and an old chap who walks his dog down our way have been doing so over past years. At the moment though we have had to put it on hold as lane being used as access for works on building rail-link from our town to Edinburgh and there are so many heavy vehicles up and down the lane. At the moment it is quite distressing as they are clearing lots of trees near us for the train track - but, as public transport users who do not drive, we are pleased that there will be improved rail services in our area. Once they have finished work near us we will definately be gardening the lane and will try to scatter some seeds down the railway embankment too. So we will not be able to be involved with you at this point, but with you in spirit - you go girl, get the camoflage gear on and get gardening
