Vivihen
My son usually takes leave to go to the Edinburgh festival. He booked his flight and accommodation before Christmas but on Monday received an e-mail to say that the hotel had been taken over and was being refurbished. He has spent two days trying to find other reasonably priced accommodation to no avail; he can't refund his airline ticket and it will cost him over £100 pounds to change it to another destination. He has had a rotten fortnight what with one thing and another so I should be grateful if anyone has any suggestions as to accommodation. Clash City Rocker
Try this, http://www.ekeout.com/self-catering-edinburgh.htm We've been to the Comedy Festival a few times over the years and had accomodation through this company. There is always loads of student accomodation available in the "grass market" area during the festival as most students are away for the Summer. Ain't Nobody Here
Would he consider camping ? There's a nice site near me but it would be a half hour bus journey into town which might make it no good .
Vivihen
That was one of my suggestions but he's not that keen. Thanks anyway. I suppose any accommodation he's able to find now will be quite a trek. Viv.
Ain't Nobody Here
If you let me know the dates I can keep my eyes open for him, if you like . Is it just him? I can always ask around to see if anyone might let him "lodge" during the Festival. The staff at my school are always very obliging and friendly (I don't have room, sadly!) chickenanne
If he gets really stuck he can stay just outside Edinburgh itself, there are usually plenty places available if you don't have to be central. There's a Novotel at Edinburgh Park/Hermiston Gate, which is a 5 minute train ride from middle of Edinburgh.
