Advice needed re: feather pulling/eating

Recommended Posts

One of my hens has taken to eating feathers that have dropped on the ground AND those still attached to other hens! She's not being malicious, she just seems to like the way they taste. :vom:

I've ordered a pack of beak rings and anti-peck spray from the Domestic Fowl Trust and they should arrive next week. I looked at the 'definitive guide' to bumpabits etc. on the Omlet forum, but could not get the guidance link on how to put on the beak rings sold by DFT. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, is there anything else I should be doing to discourage this habit? All hens appear to be otherwise healthy and happy- they lay well and get plenty of free range time. I don't think that they are too bored.
