SJ1703
Hi, I know there are lots of threads about soft eggs, so apolgies for starting another one. Chloe has been laying beautiful dark brown eggs since around Christmas, but over the past 2 or 3 weeks has either been laying eggs with no shell at all, or a very brittle shell. Her two companions, Zoe and Helena Bonham-Chicken are fine. They fill up on pellets and don't really free ange, but do get a few treats in the evening (pasta, rice, etc). They also have a constant supply of grit. Chloe seems fine in herself, and is very perky. I have read about adding Zolcal-D to their water as this may help, but have also read that this may have a detrimental effect on the 2 hens who don;t have this problem - something to do with a excess of calcium causing kidney damage. So now I;m in a quandary - do I leave it for a while to se if Chloe gets back to laying properly formed shelss, or should I try some Zolcal-D or is it a visit to the vets? Any advice gratefully received!! Sarah
