house-elf
I started using wood chips as bedding for the run area, but found it really hard to see the poo for poo picking, so I changed to auboise which has made poo picking alot easier, however with all the rain we are having, I am more or less having to change the flooring everyday. The run is covered on top but not on the sides, although I do put over shower curtains when it rains, still the flooring is getting very wet. I don't have a problem using alot of the Auboise as even though I am changing it nearly everyday, I still have tonnes left. My concern is that the floor is wet and currently, with the weather being how it is, I can't dry it out properly, and I know that wet bedding is not ideal. Does any one have any suggestions on how I can better weather proof the flooring ? The coop side is fine and I haven't any problems with the rain. Could I put a thick plastic sheet down on the ground and bring it up on the sides (so that any rain runs under the sheet and therefore not soaked up in the bedding ) and then put the auboise on top of that ? Or is that a recipe for disaster ? Any advice is welcomed !
poppy33
I have aubiose in my covered walk in run and yes it does get wet when it rains and blows in at the sides, but this only gets damp and soon dries up again when the sun comes out; my girls seem to enjoy it more when its damp and get very excited with the foraging as long as they have somewhere to roost that is dry they should be fine.
