fly strike no appetite

Recommended Posts

our lionhead barney had fly stirke 4 days ago and was treated at the vets, we have him in the house and he will not eat anything, we have tried recovery food by syringe and also baby foods as he loves banana.

Can anyone suggest what we can do?

Have you tried making a mush by adding warm water to some of his pellets then feed it to him on the tip of a spoon, you may have to smear a little on his lips for him to get the taste of it. This worked for us when one of our buns was suffering from myxi. :) Good Luck - hope he gets better soon.

is your rabbit on pro biotics ? They will help to keep his gut healthy - BUT I would strongly recommend that you take your rabbit back to the vets incase he has developed gut stasis. Rabbits MUST eat all the time, so keep their guts ticking over - if he has been like this for a few days it is most likely that he has developed it, in which case he will more than likely need hospitalising, and given drugs to get his gut moving. I'm not a vet, but am a vet nurse and see this all the time with rabbits, 9 times out of 10 they get better, but he will need the vets to do it. Let me know how he gets on x
