Bern H
Any advice welcome. We have two chucks, both about about 16 months old. Margot our Gingernut stopped laying last week and has had runny poos which stink. Is there anything I can do or is a trip to the vet in order? Other than that she seems ok and is eating, running around as normal. Many thanks Bern H
K-F-C
Do you put bokashi bran in the food? That can help to firm them up. And garlic granules or powder can help with the smell.
Guest
wormed recently?
Pollo
Mine are roughly the same age and have stopped also. You can see my posts under 'Stopped Laying'. In the order I think it might be, it is either: A) They are beginning to moult B) They need worming, C) The thundery weather and torrential downpours of late has upset them, or indeed a combination of all three. I have some flubinvet on order - should be here for tomorrow but have been assured by most people that this is normal and nothing to worry about. I think it's just because once they started to lay they both never missed a day and so it was a bit of a shock. Otherwise, just like yours they seem in perfect health and quite happy. I'll let you know how I get on with the worming etc.
Bern H
thanks all for the advice. I've wormed them this week and will keep an eye on her. Still the best eggs I've ever had!!!
Pollo
...so now mine have had four days of the flubenvet worming mixture and I've also been giving them treats (sweetcorn, peas, oats and stuff) again in the late afternoon early evening as I had stopped for a while. I went back to this because of a post I read about the amount of energy it takes them to lay. Anyway whatever was wrong they have both started re-laying again. Any improvement your end?
