4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Hi all,

This is my first time on the forum as our girls have been fit and healthy since receiving them from Omlet a year ago!

Around 2 weeks ago, one of our chickens, Tabitha, started sneezing. I gave her extra citricidal and garlic powder and lots of fruit hoping that would help! She kept sneezing and then developed a bit of a wheeze in her chest. We took her to our vet who prescribed Aureomycin, a powder you disolve in the water for a lung infection. We have now used it for a week and although Tabitha is bright and eating well and laying eggs (which we have to throw away) she is still weezy and occasionally sneezes.

Any ideas, please? We don't really want to take her back to the vet if poss.

I have had problems with a sneezing hen before so I was told to give them live bio yogurt for four days and I found that this really helped. I fed them one tablespoon of yogurt each and they went mad for it, they loved it, ha ha. I have also given them collidial silver before which is an antibiotic this also works but is £20 from a website called happy chicks. Maybe try the yogurt first x

I had my 3 exbats for a few weeks when they all started to sneeze. My vet gave me Tylan antibiotic for 3 days. After that they were still sneezing no wheezing though so I dont think it made much difference. It seemed to happen when they had been eating wet things or got dust up their beaks so I would assume they are just clearing their nostrils. Anyway they stopped sneezing when the weather was warm and dry.

 

Since it has been cooler and wetter they have started sneezing again. Like you I dont want to take them to the vet again. I keep a close eye on them and check their nostrils which are clear. They have apple cider vingegar in their water, exbatt food mixed with mash and poultry spice. Like I am unsure what else to do as well but they seem happy enough
