emchook
I found a large egg today that was fine [ nice and hard ] but had wavy wrinkles at the top [ similar to Egluntynes post "What on earth ?"] My hybrids are only a year old .. but the egg quality does seem to have deteriorated quite a bit. I get thin shells, very large eggs that are watery and just put me off using them and now the wrinkly .. I think it may just be the one chicken as they are not daily issues. Is this age related ?? Or is it seasonal ?
Olly
Could be a bit of both. If they've just come back into lay after a rest over the winter, then it might be just because they're getting back into the swing of things, but more likely (in my opinion) it's because they're getting a bit older. I got large eggs, wrinkly eggs, eggs with lumpy shells etc as my Gingernuts got older. They still taste fine!
