ladyjulian Posted March 5, 2010 Share Posted March 5, 2010 As it's got a bit nicer outside, the ladies have taken to dust bathing. In my raised beds. I'm going to have to fence off the veg once my seedlings are out, and since they're in the run most of the day, I thought I'd treat them to a dust bath of their own (following the washing-up-bowl-and-sand recommendation I saw on here). Popped it in a nice sunny bit of their run, and stood back. So far they have pecked the bowl and tried to eat the sand. Clearly a dust bath is only fun if it's somewhere totally inconvenient. Poached Egg Posted March 5, 2010 Share Posted March 5, 2010 Sounds very familiar. Our old girls made a few favourite baths in the borders too. They showed no interest in the dust bath we created for their run until we took it out and it got filled with rainwater since when it has been used for squelching, drinking, pecking...
