Chicken not laying

Recommended Posts

One of my Hen's has stopped laying. We have not had an egg for four weeks. She did lay some softies but we upped her grit and she seemed fine. She now just sits and looks sad she is eating and drinking but is not moving around alot. She just sits by our patio door. We have just started to worm her to see if that makes any difference. She is not losing weight her wattle is bright red and her pooh is fine as well. Any suggestions will be much appreciated

I've not had any of mine go broody but it doesn't sound like it. Broody symptoms seem best described as behaving like an evil pancake, hissing if disturbed and refusing to leave the nesting box.

As for your girl, what are you worming her with? Flubenvet is highly recommended, I use it for my girls.

Is she a hybrid? When you say she has been a good layer, has it been an egg a day every day? Could she be coming to the end of her laying days?

Has she ever moulted? Any less feathery patches?

Have you felt her crop, is sit like your other girls or is it hard or squishy/sloppy? does it empty at night? i recently lost one of mine and the first sign that she was poorly was a squishy crop.

Sorry, there are more questions than answers here

We are worming her with Flubuvent, she used to lay everyday, she has come out of a moult which she did suffer, poor thing, but that was quite a few weeks ago. Crop is empty at night. She does walk a little funny not as fast as normal.
