Chicken Poo

Recommended Posts

I've only had my chickens since last Friday so am just getting to 'know' their poops! We have hard ones, soft ones and curry ones. Today, however, I've just been out to poop pick their run and there were one or two which looked a bit bloody. They're only getting growers although had a few bits of chopped strawberry on Saturday - they didn't eat it and I lifted all the leftovers away on Sat evening - even if it was that, I imagine it would have been passed long ago.

The chickens are 14w, 9w and 6w. Watching them, I'm a bit concerned about the 6w Red Hamp - maybe needlessly. I can't recall her eating pellets this morning - usually she does - but that's not to say she didn't whilst I wasn't looking. The other two 'escaped' from their run via the door I put the food in but Rachel was right down the other end - even whilst the other pair were out in the garden - that's unlike her as she's an inquisitive wee thing. At the moment she's lying down beside the Orp - was standing around before that but did go for a walk and try to catch a fly or two. I took them a few currants after lunch and she came and took 2 from my hand but didn't eat them - although she hasn't had them before and maybe is too young to eat them.

So, I don't know whether the poo is normal and I don't know whether I might have an under the weather chicken. Can anyone advise please.

Thanks

Isabel
