JB09
So we are on day 6, I was going to wait until day 7 to candle but the have done it tonight. I have four embryos and one I'm not sure about. I did put six under but when the broody Betsy's run door was open my other pekin who is new to laying went in to laid next to her. I had specifically moved her so this did not happen but I think Lola is missing her best friend and wanted some company as she is new to laying. Anyway, Besty ended up sitting on 7 eggs. So the next time she left the nest I put a cross on them so I could take out anymore if this was to happen again. The next day she kicked one of the eggs out the nest and it was left to get cold. I assumed this might be the infertile one, but on candleing I suspect not as I have one that looks totally clear. All in all I'm pretty pleased but know its still early days. I will make a consious effort not to disterb the eggs anymore now and wait for a couple more weeks and see what happens. All of my early anxiousness has subsided and I now feel rather excited. Looking forward to enjoying the weeks to come.
