Robbo1962
Hi I have a young Maran (15 months) who was very keen to sit tight on the nest most of August/September, kept chucking her off, she has finally got the message and has given up. During this time she appeared to be moulting very slightly, would being broody slow her moult down? she looks a mess and very scruffy! It seems to be taking her ages to moult. Should she have some sort of supplement to help her through this? I think that I read somewhere, cat food is a good additive but it does not seem the correct thing to do? How about tuna fish?? Help! Steve the Gas
Tuna fish will be fine (not the brine tho) When broody - they sometimes self pluck to make a skin to egg connection more effective. Looks like she has had a long brood and is now opting for a long moult.
