Chicken Grief

Recommended Posts

Really sad and upset, lost my little Pekin in her sleep over the weekend. Don't know why and assuming it was just too cold for her. Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping them warmer at night?

My five other are really missing her too. They watched as we buried her and have since spent the last two day sitting over the area where she rests. Absolutely heartbreaking :( I've never seen behaviour like this before, just hoping they get back to noral tomorrow.

Hadn't really thought about that. She was really tiny though and didn't seem to be growing that fast, other than that though she was full of energy and just the cutest little thing. Really she belonged to my six year old and he handled her so much she would just jump on your hand if you put it out. That just makes it even harder :(

Hi sorry to hear about your little one.

Like others have said though I would't have thought the cold would be a problem this time of year, unless you have some exceptional weather. Even in last year's freeze they all just snuggle up together and they're fine.

They are very good though at covering up any weakness or infirmity. They don't want to appear weak to their sisters and loose their place in the pecking order.

All the best.
