fujcube
Hi, Our Call Duck has recently started to crouch, similar to our hens but much flatter. She sticks her neck right out and is almost flat to the ground. When she does this, she doesn't move and you can easily pick her up with one hand. Is this a sign that she is going to lay, or looking for a mate!!! Regards, fujcube
Jimbob
Hi Fujcube, One of my Muscovy ducks started doing this last year just as the mating season got under way. Every time I went to give her a treat or pick her up she flattened herself to the floor, spread her wings flat and stuck her neck right out. I could pick her up easily. At first I just thought she had become really tame!!! I soon realised she was doing exactly what the other ducks were doing when the drake approached them - getting ready to mate My wife had warned me I was spending too much time with the ducks When the mating season finishes she will stop doing it. I hope this helps. Jimbob
