Robbo1962
I have a lovely young hen who lost feathers on her rump and neck last year and then promptly went broody. Exactly the same has happened this year, exactly the same feather loss. I know they sometimes they pluck tummy feathers out to get the egg warmer, but not sure why she has lost rump and neck feathers, everything grows back in the autumn. The rest of the gang are fine and no sign of feather loss or red mite. May be the feather loss is normal in broody hens?
fluffy chick
Maybe it's a moult? Or maybe it's just what she does when broody? Mine will loose tummy feathers as you say but not anywhere else
