darthwenger
Rosie has had runny poo's for a few days and now seems to be off her food and water these last couple of days. Also her crop feels fine, her comb is her normal bright red colour and her tail is up (usually when she is ill her tail points down) She seems to be sitting in the run or somewhere else in the garden as if she is sitting on a nest which is very unusual for her as she is usually quite an active chicken and rarely sits down. I have noticed she has lost weight but have tried worming her this week, giving her some Baytril etc - she does rush out when I come with some corn and worms and pecks away at that but haven't seen her at the actual feeder for days. Anyone have any ideas or is it a trip to the vets? PS she hasn't laid an egg for months now and is our oldest chook at 2 and half years. Olly
Sorry, no ideas ... if she is not eating or drinking much then she could lose condition quite quickly, trip to the vet may be best. It could be a simple infection of some sort.
Chucky Mama
I would be suspicious of egg peritonitis given her age, behaviour and lack of eggs. Have a gentle feel of her abdomen for swelling, fluid or tightness. Has she already had a course of Baytril from the vets?
