Jimbob
I am hoping some of you quail experts out there can help me. I am looking into getting some Japanese quail for pets and eggs at first (then maybe meat - gulp!!) I have got an old run that I am planning to use that is 2' x 6'. It would be in the back room of a garage and off the floor. How many would I be able to house in it comfortably. I wanted to hatch some eventually. What ratio of cocks/hens and what size group would be happy in that size run. I have also got a smaller cage/run that is 2' x 3'. Would that be too small for a cock and some hens. I have also seen multi-level quail pens for sale. Does having x1 breeding group living on top of another breeding group cause any problems. One site suggested a space ratio of 145 sq cm per quail but surely they would not be happy under those conditions. Any advice on housing them would be greatfully received. Thanks, James
