ionian1 Posted June 3, 2011 Share Posted June 3, 2011 one chicken laid a soft shelled egg, had a couple of eggs, few days later my friend who looks after the chickens when I am away, said no eggs from her, I have found since sunday just the remains of an egg in the coop, they have layers pullets, extra grit and I have been giving eggs shells to them as well. their life style is great, in the coop until 11 ish, to eat the food, and then free range around the garden. one actually stayed out all night this week, I thought she was safe in the coop and the next morning prancing around the garden and the others were still in the run! is there anything else I can do, or just let nature run its course. up until now the shells of all the birds have been very good. only one or two thin ones (not hers) since February, so I upped the egg shell consumption and no problem except this one.
